MJ: Is there something… that you could talk about… in one minute?
[6 second pause]
LF: I’d like to talk more about scaffolding and where I should be before I started this course.
[5 second pause]
MJ: Explain that to me.
LF: Well, I, I re- reading everything even enhanced further for me the importance of scaffolding. I’m working on a book chapter with, a I’m working on a book with Linda and one of the chapters I’m writing is on scaffolding and so it made me really aware that to get the most for my students is that I have maybe a lot of the text one of the reasons why we are writing it is it doesn’t have enough scaffolding in it.
We tell the masters or doctoral student to look at change but we forget how long it’s been since they really looked at the context of what real change is.
[4 second pause]
MJ: If there was one takeaway from what you said about your need to learn more about scaffolding, what might it be?
[4 second pause]
LF: That I’m not sure where to find the information that I need. I’ve learned so much from you but most of that is indirect scaffolding, not tied directly to nursing.
I have found one article where we kind of make that relationship to skill sets but not so much for scaffolding to how you think and that’s what attracted me to this course and that’s what
I’m hoping will be one of my major takeaways is better scaffolding of my interactions? [pause] Of scaffolding for those who are interacting with me.
MJ: Do you have a few minutes tomorrow before class?
